FCFC, short for Football Culture Football Club, is an LAFC culture and community based podcast hosted by my good friends Josh Lee, Alex Dwyer and Sam Ko. While many team specific/team oriented podcasts focus on the tactical and analytical side of things, this podcast focuses on the people that make up the supporter culture that is just as crucial to LAFC as the actual product on the field. Guests range from LAFC front office staff and supporters, local LA-based artists, and more.
Shortly after launching, I along with another good friend Alex Cervantes were brought on to help create compelling content that resonates strongly with LAFC fans while also being able to tap into other subcultures prominent to Los Angeles as a whole. Alex oversees the graphics and art direction while I focus on photo and video.
Artwork
Our art direction and graphics are an integral part of what makes FCFC what it is. Working in tandem with our graphic designer, my job is to take and provide photo assets of our various guests that will aid in bringing the final piece of artwork to life.
Player-Hype Videos
Inspired by the original AND1 Mixtapes, these clips are meant to highlight individual players as well as create excitement around big upcoming matches.
Made to celebrate the team’s return to play in 2020 after COVID shut the league down for 4 months. One of our top posts on Instagram, we were able to reach 2,196 impressions and 56 story reshares.
On pace to break numerous MLS records and a sure fire MVP by midseason, the hype around Carlos Vela in 2019 was unmatched. It only seemed right for our first mixtape to highlight the legendary season our club captain was having.
Highlighting midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye, a fan favorite who went from playing in USL to establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the entire league.
Instagram Live Shows
With the COVID shutdowns came an uptick in IG Live shows. To capitalize on that rise, we produced 3 separate shows centered around each host’s personality that would help us engage with our followers even further.

One of the biggest areas we wanted to begin to emphasize more was video content. Linked here is our first ever video podcast, shot and edited by yours truly. Unfortunately, we were not able to record as much in person as we would have liked before LA went on another COVID lockdown. That being said, we hope to get back to recording and creating content in person again soon.
