As the social media intern, my role at LBCC was to work alongside the school’s communications department in handling the day-to-day social media execution. This included creating images and graphics to promote on-campus events, writing copy to accompany those images and graphics, and covering certain events through photo and video with a consistency that aligned with the school’s brand. Additionally, it was my responsibility to create a a bi-weekly content calendar to plan our content roll out. Once content was created and ready to post, it would then be scheduled through Sendible to go out on specific dates and times.
Meant to highlight key events and workshops happening on campus that week, our Weekly Breakdown posts kept students in the loop and encouraged more active participation in campus life.
As someone pursuing a career in sports, I took great pride in creating any sort of content for our school’s football team. Below are graphics created for two of the team’s games. Meant to take advantage of Instagram’s carousel feature, the images were originally split in two but reformatted here to show the full panoramic.

For the 2019 season, the school’s lead media producer had the idea of filming a short docuseries on the football team similar to something like “Last Chance U”. My role here was to assist with capturing b-roll footage on gamedays, as well as cut down footage in Adobe Premiere to help ease the editing load. Being able to capture the highs and lows that come with a full season and present the players from a more personal perspective was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Below are stills of some of the b-roll footage I captured that can be found in the episodes above.
As with any college, commencement was one of if not THE biggest event of each school year. Capturing content that presented it as such was incredibly important for our social channels. My role for the 2018 and 2019 ceremonies was to photograph, edit, and upload photos of the ceremony as it was happening. From there our marketing team would be able to post the photos to the school’s social media channels. Having worked in a very similar environment shooting gamedays with LAFC, covering commencement came with ease.
Rounding up our 2019 commencement coverage, I created a carousel gallery for Instagram highlighting some of my personal favorite photos from the event.

With COVID forcing the school to go virtual for 2020’s commencement, it was up to the media team to create a compelling and engaging ceremony that felt just as celebratory as years past. One way we achieved this was by using our social channels to encourage students to send in their favorite photos from the school year. It was then my job to find a way to incorporate those images into a slideshow that would accompany the end credits for the ceremony. With the images I created a collage in Photoshop, and then added text for the credits as well as the logos. From there I took the image into Premiere where I was able to make it scroll across the screen.
